Late 18th century slipware baking dish
Firstly my thanks to my good friends Tony and Joan who kindly donated the sherds that make up this late 18th century slipware dish – excavated in the 1970’s from a brick lined cesspit at Glass House Fields in London. Rather than attempt to create a fully restored dish I have had my restorer complete the project as an honest “museum” repair where the missing segments are visible. Fully stable and with a lovely honey colour this dish is 13 ½” (34cm) wide. A good opportunity to acquire a rare piece of early English pottery at a sensible price and we will be donating the profit from this sale to The Dan Eley Foundation.
