Standing at 11 1/2" tall this is truly outstanding tankard with an elaborate hallmarked silver lid and rim with ornate thumbpiece and acorn finial. The tankard inscribed for George Guyuer of Hannam Hall with a depiction of Queen Anne and the date 1729 - this was the year that Abel Boyer's book "The History of Queen Anne" was published (14 years after her death) and it is likely that these tankards were produced to mark this. Profusely decorated with guards, Tudor roses, bostobel oaks and hounds and in very good original condition.
