A lovely example of the Ralph Wood raised glass Toby jug with the underbase 51 stamp and well decorated in translucent manganese, green, ochre and cobalt blue running glazes - collection number 109 in the Mackintosh collection and sold at Sotheby'on 30th September 1975 Lot 82. Of interest is the fact that he is missing his right thumb, forefinger and beaker yet his hand is fully glazed proving that he was decorated and fired like this - whilst it would have been relatively straightforward for these to be restored no-one over the past 240 years or so (including Lord Mackintosh) has felt this necessary. An excellent Toby.
