A fine example of the Portuguese Rodney Sailor Toby c.1790 well decorated in ochre, manganese and blue translucent running glazes on a creamware body. This was probably produced by by Rato (Lisbon) or Fabrico de Massarellos. These early Portuguese Toby jugs (including the reading, wineskin and bottle) are excellent.
