Staffordshire c.1780 - of the four ex Mackintosh toby jugs that came up for sale last week this is, in my opinion, by far the best. In lovely original condition he's crisply moulded, richly coloured in translucent manganese, ochre and green and has a rich deep glaze - everything that you would expect to see on a fine Ralph Wood toby jug together with an outstanding provenance.
