in 1695 Henry Purcell wrote the song "Britons, Strike home!" and this became a popular patriotic song as important in it's day as Rule Britannia - used during many conflicts. This English delft bowl c1750 (possibly earlier) promotes this song and was probably made to encourage our troops during a particular conflict. 10 1/2" wide.
