Rare and fine Ralph Wood Lord Howe Toby jug c1780
A particularly good example of a Ralph Wood Lord Howe Toby jug - well moulded, lightly potted and decorated in translucent manganese, ochre and green running glazes. The Howe was potted with 3 different "hair lengths" and this is the rare mid length. This Lord Howe sold in May 2005 for £9360 (probably a record for a Lord Howe Toby) largely due to two wealthy collectors bidding against each other - now priced at a more appropriate level!
