Toby Jugs

line

As indicated throughout this website we have a great passion for early English Toby Jugs and I'm happy to say that the Toby Jugs we offer outshine this charming gentleman’s collection - but I couldn’t resist including the picture!

I feel privileged to have been appointed as an advisor to the Victoria and Albert museum (V&A) for Toby jugs under their "superfan" advisor programme.

Whilst we endeavour to include a wide variety of Toby’s for sale on the website we also have many more available at prices from under £100 to over £10000 so please don't hesitate to contact us if you're looking for a particular Toby Jug.

There were a number of potters producing Toby jugs in the latter part of the 18th century - Ralph Wood, Enoch Wood, Whieldon, Hollins, Neale & Co to name a few although it is rare to find a potters mark. The traditional "ordinary" Toby of a seated man comes in many forms but there are many other moulds such as the Drunken Parson, Squire, Hearty Good Fellow, Sailor, Planter, Martha Gunn, Drunken Sal, Lord Howe plus a lot more. Let us know if you are seeking any of these and we will find them for you!

We're also happy to have Toby collectors visit us in Surrey (strictly by appointment) to see our collection.

If you have a Toby Jug in your collection that you would like to know more about we would be happy to hear from you and share our knowledge.

We're always eager to buy good early Toby Jugs and are able to offer excellent prices. If you have a single Toby Jug or a collection that you're considering selling please contact us and we'll be happy to provide you with a valuation - it's never a problem if you then decide not to sell, however, our free valuation may prove useful for insurance purposes.
